| POLITICALLY IRONIC 5.14.02 By: Memo Menos ABC had had enough of the free speech of BILL MAHER. He has been a thorn in their sides for some time now, having alienated advertisers, go vernment officials and network executives with his frank commentary on the world according to MAHER. The irony that a show that spat in the face of political correctness is the victim of its own lack of same is more than a little humorous. And MAHER had to expect it would happen sooner or later. It is perhaps even more ironic that POLITICALLY INCORRECT is being replaced by a late-night talk show hosted by JIMMY KIMMEL, one of the hosts of a show far more politically incorrect than MAHERS effort, THE MAN SHOW. Either KIMMEL will have to clean up his act or the networks at ABC, and its parent DISNEY, will be wielding the axe again sometime soon.
JOHN TRAVOLTAS MEDIA TEASE 5.6.2002 By Sashya Waterman ![]() On Saturday, May 4, 2002, KELLY PRESTON hosted glass sculptress MARLENE ROSES West Coast premiere exhibit at City Gallery in the fashionable Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Many friends and associates of Prestons, such as, ANNE ARCHER and VINCE VAUGHN came out to see the beautiful blown glass inspired by ancient cultures, Africa and India that the artist has studied since discovering glass sculpting at Tulane University. Showtimes "Resurrec tion Blvd." star, MARISOL NICHOLS actually introduced Marlene and Kelly. Kelly has been a big supporter for Rose ever since. Preston and her husband, JOHN TRAVOLTA, own a piece of Roses extraordinary art. Preston says, "each one [art piece] is imbued with life. [Her art] is just amazing." It certainly helps to have a dynamic circle of friends. Even though he owns Marlene Rose, Travolta was eager to see more of her work at the exhibit. In addition to supporting artisans, Travolta looks forward to the upcoming release of the new movie, BASIC, which reconnects him with his PULP FICTION s tar, SAMUEL L. JACKSON. He said it was "awesome" working with Sam the second time around. More importantly than the new movie or the glass art is Travoltas secret announcement. Travolta says, "[I have] an announcement to make in a month and a half maybe." He doesnt want to give any hints t o spoil the surprise. He only said, "[its] not a movie but something Ive dreamed about my whole life. I cant wait to tell everyone all about it." Apparently, its a dream already come true. |
