Lake Placid is a Horror/Comedy about a man-eating alligator loose in a large lake. Creator of Ally McBeal and the Practice, David E Kelley takes his creativity to the big screen. The film stars Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman, Oliver Platt, and Betty White. At the Los Angeles premier, guests were hosted to a country picnic and even had the opportunity to feast on real crocodile meat. Bridget Fonda showed up and was greeted first by her very proud father, Peter Fonda. Bill Pullman, however, was unable to attend the premier.

Oliver Platt told a funny story about filming the movie. He was frightened when he first saw the 30-foot model crocodile. He said that he didn't have a chance to look at the fake animals until the shot was being filmed. He also commented that it was large enough to look real when he was looking at it while he was eye to eye with it in the water.

Betty White's character in the film is one that she has never played before. She uses language that we haven't heard out of her mouth. Coincidentally, White is also celebrating her 50th Anniversary of her working in Hollywood. We have watched her in the past on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls and is currently working on a show called Ladies Man. Betty White is a very sincere lady and extremely charming and we commend her for all her work. We hope to see her in many more movies in the years ahead.

The tagline of the film is, "You'll never know what bit you." However, with the recent ratings and reviews this tagline might be better applied to the producers of the film. So far the critics aren't fans of the film. Many commented on the fact that we just saw this film and it was called "Anaconda."

Rating: R for violent creature attacks and related gore, and for language.

It has a running time of 1 hr. 32 minutes.
