T-REX: BACK TO THE CRETACEOUS

IMAX picks up where Speilberg’s JURASSIC PARK left off with there new film, T-REX: BACK TO THE CRETACEOUS. I can’t think of a more perfect subject to fit with the 3D IMAX technology. BRETT LEONARD, the film’s director, transports the audience to the Mesozoic era, a time when humans did not exist and life as we know it seemed bigger and harsher. In the past 3D IMAX movies document visually dense subjects such as the Pacific Ocean or Mount Everest but this film is more character driven. In this IMAX film, we learn that young Ally (LIZ STAUBER) works as a Natural History museum tour guide, her father is an archaeologist and is obsessed with the motherly instincts of the T-Rex. So, through the magic of IMAX 3D and a little prehistoric dust, Ally journeys through the forest and finds that her theory about female T-Rex is correct. The story is fun and educational for the whole family.

The film lasts for 45 minutes and the IMAX people are constantly working on the technology that will someday bring audiences a full-length, feature film. The 45 minute films take longer than the average 90 minute 75mm film. In addition to working on new technology this is the first IMAX film that is completely digital, which will mean more breakthroughs for the future of the technology.

T-REX: BACK TO THE CRETACEOUS is now playing at an IMAX theater near you.
